2025 DC Measures Report Stresses Vision and Vigilance

Revealed at the recent WERC Annual Conference in New Orleans, this year’s DC Measures Report emphasizes the critical role of both vision and vigilance in today’s fast-changing distribution environment. “Vision and vigilance matter, as the market can quickly change and leave the firm behind,” the report states.

Why the DC Measures Report Matters

Based on survey responses collected in 2024 and 2025, the report compiles benchmarking data from distribution professionals across a range of industries, including:

•  manufacturing
•  retail
•  wholesale/distributor
•  third-party warehouses
•  life sciences

Now in its latest edition, the DC Measures Report remains an essential tool for warehouse and DC leaders seeking to measure operational performance, uncover areas for improvement, and benchmark against peer facilities.

This Year’s Most Popular Metrics

The 2025 report tracks over 30 key performance indicators (KPIs). The top five most popular metrics for this year’s report include:

•  On-time shipments
•  Average warehouse capacity used
•  Peak warehouse capacity used
•  Order-picking accuracy (percent by order)
•  Dock-to-stock cycle time (in hours)

In addition to performance benchmarks, the report offers demographic insights such as company size, facility type, and geographic location. These details help users compare their internal performance against a broad range of facilities to identify realistic improvement opportunities.

Updated Online Benchmarking Tool

Alongside the report, WERC has updated its Online Benchmarking Tool, a dynamic digital platform that includes more than a decade’s worth of DC Measures data. The tool allows distribution professionals, consultants, and 3PLs to generate customized reports filtered by industry, operation type, and preferred metrics.

The tool is included with WERC Team Memberships, or it can be purchased with a one-year subscription for individual users. Visit werc.org/metrics to learn more.
