Alan Amling of UPS on The Future of Delivery in Our New On-Demand Economy
Alan Amling presents a fascinating TED Talk where he imagines the future of delivery in our new on-demand economy. He calls this the “my way highway” as a result of consumer driven demand, customization and desire for instant gratification. As Alan paints a picture of the future he takes elements from traditional manufacturing and adapts them to the “my consumer hand” in a way that lowers inventory, costs, and time spent in transportation.
Alan Amling oversees marketing efforts for UPS’s global logistics and distribution services. He moved into this role after serving as head of the New Product Development Concepts Team, overseeing the development of some of UPS’s largest product and marketing initiatives. In addition to traditional products and services, Amling was focused on supporting UPS’s Decision Green platform.
