Big Ass Fans Implements Clean Air System to Aid in Worker Safety During Pandemic

MHI member companies are among the leading suppliers in manufacturing and supply chain and with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of these companies have been doing amazing things to better the safety of our citizens and the security of our economy.

This week we spoke with MHI member company Big Ass Fans about their focus on clean air system technology and how this is making a difference in the lives of others and in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

There is no doubt the onset of COVID-19 has magnified the need for clean air to create a safer and healthier work environment. Big Ass Fans, the world’s preeminent fan designer and manufacturer, has responded to this need by introducing Clean Air System, combining either UV or ionization technology with strategic airflow, to mitigate the spread of pathogens via person-to-person transmission.

“Clean Air System is an evolution of Big Ass Fans itself, it’s us realizing that we are not only a fan company, we are experts in air movement and we realize the world right now needs someone to be an expert in air disinfection” says Andrew Koukis, Global Product Manager at Big Ass Fans.

With the material handling and supply chain industry continuing to face a workforce shortage, providing a safe work environment to protect employees and staying open for business has become paramount. Alex Risen, Public Relations Manager at Big Ass Fans explains how educating customers has been key to implementing safe air solutions. “Education has been the most valuable tool we can offer our customers in the material handling industry and that’s magnified now. Understanding how air movement and airflow plays a role in creating a safer, healthier, cleaner space is key to continuing to battle the ongoing struggle to attract and retain talent.”

The pandemic has definitely caused our industry to adapt and learn. For Big Ass Fans, they have shifted attention to implementing as many mitigation techniques as possible.  “Having these systems installed will help prevent not only the spread of the current SARS-CoV-2 pathogen, but of influenza A & B, rhinovirus, fungi and mold growth as well as assist in the food processing industry to mitigate salmonella and the like,” says Risen.

MHI applauds Big Ass Fans in their commitment to providing technology to help keep our community safe. If you are an MHI member company who is also making a positive impact in these times of need, we want to hear from you! Please contact our MHI Membership department with your story.
