Material Handling & Logistics Classroom Day
The College Industry Council on Material Handling Education (CICMHE) of MHI has partnered with the Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA) to offer a special program for students and professors in engineering, technology, manufacturing, operations, supply chain and logistics at MODEX 2014.
9:00am – 9:30am Check-In
Pre-register in advance at www.modexshow.com, go by Registration to pick up your badge, then come to Room B302-303 to learn more about the industry and how to get the most out of the show and conference. You will receive an “Academic VIP” ribbon along with a variety of materials to help you better understand the show, the industry and the educational materials available from MHI.
9:30am – 10:00am Welcome and Introduction to the Material Handling Industry and the MODEX 2014 Expo
Attend a presentation providing an overview of how material handling and logistics solutions make goods flow, how solutions are developed, current and future trends, people and jobs in the industry, plus how to make the most out of your visit to MODEX 2014. Information will also be presented about the materials available from CICMHE, MHI and MHEDA.
10:15am – 12:15pm Tour of the Show Floor
Students and professors will split into groups to take a guided tour of the show floor and see the latest material handling and logistics technologies. Industry experts at selected show booths are waiting to talk with you about the industry, solutions and careers. Get a better understanding of how to apply the technologies and techniques to solve real-world problems. The product literature, white papers, case studies, DVDs and other content found on the show floor can be a valuable educational resource.
12:15pm – 2:00pm Lunch and Contest Introduction
Enjoy lunch with the other Classroom Day participants courtesy of CICMHE and MHI. While you eat, information on a design contest for all students will be presented.
2:00pm – 3:00pm Design Preparation
Students, working in teams of 10, will have this time to develop and prepare their contest submissions.
3:00pm – 3:30pm Wrap-Up
Winners will be announced along with final announcements for the day.
3:30pm – 5:00pm Free Time on the Show Floor
Return to the show floor to talk with additional vendors or attend educational sessions. The MODEX Expo closes at 5:00 p.m.
