McCormick Place History

Since it is Friday (and 75 degrees here in Charlotte) I felt like it would be a great opportunity for a fun entry! I found a very cool Time Magazine article from 1967 when Chicago’s McCormick Place (and home of ProMat) was completely burned to the ground just before the largest show, National Housewares Manufacturers Association, was about to open.

One of the most interesting facts is that $25,000 worth of diamonds were stolen (and apparently never recovered). Here is another blogger with some fun commentary on McCormick Place, the fire and the missing diamonds.

Also, if you want to read the full history of McCormick Place click here – its pretty interesting.

Happy Friday!
