MODEX 2014: Day Three Recap

Wow! Day three of MODEX 2014 had an invigorating start, sparked by the Preview of MHI Industry Report. MHI CEO George Prest and Deloitte Consulting Principal Scott Sopher presented the findings of the new industry report from MHI, which focuses on industry trends and issues that will impact business for the next three to five years. The MHI Industry Report provides a wealth of valuable insight through comprehensive industry analysis. Available online at www.mhi.org for download, the report is just another way that MHI is providing tools to help manufacturing and supply chain professionals improve their businesses.

The preview of the report was just the beginning of the day’s excitement as attendees continued to visit exhibits, filling the show floor. The 2014 Georgia Logistics Summit continued and had a great turnout through its second day. There were also excellent educational events on many relevant topics including strengthening cold chain relationships, software strategies and data optimization, global distribution, and omni-channel trends.

Over 300 students attended MODEX for Material Handling and Logistics Classroom Day presented/sponsored by the College Industry Council on Material Handling Education (CICMHE) and had the opportunity to tour the show floor and participate in an on-site design contest. Over 50 educators and administrators attended the Technical Career Education Conference presented by the Technical Career Education Program (TCEP) to learn how to establish materials handling and logistics instruction programs at their schools. The event was presented by MHI, which announced the publication of the fourth TCEP Fundamentals of Warehousing & Distribution textbook, “Developing Your Soft Skills. Making a Successful Leap from the Classroom to the Workplace.”

After three, busy and exciting days, it will be nice to unwind and celebrate another successful year of MODEX at the After Hours Networking Event at Lucky Marietta District tonight from 6:00 – 9:00pm. Don’t forget to bring your MODEX badge to qualify for discounts!
