NPR: The Changing Lives of Women

This week National Public Radion (NPR) has launched a special series on “The Changing Lives of Women.”The series will focus on women and their role in today’s world.

Yesterday they had a piece on gender equality in emerging markets such as China and India. The piece is very interesting – with facts such as, “In the U.S., 3 percent of the CEOs at top companies are women; in India, that figure is 14 percent.” Seems impossible, but apparently with cheaper child care options and extended families – things like having children do not hinder women in these areas the way they do Americans.

Another piece they have is “Advice to Younger Self” where women can write a letter to themselves when they were first entering the workforce and give advice they were not given at the time.

Here is a link to all of the articles in this ongoing series.

How do you see women’s roles changing in the world and in the workplace? Are things getting better or worse?
