Remembering on Memorial Day

This post will be a little on the shorter side today, but we just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge Memorial Day. A couple of facts you might not have known before:

While the practice of decorating soldier’s graves with flowers is ancient, in the US, the birthplace of Memorial Day as we know it has been presidentially proclaimed as Waterloo, New York.

Memorial Day used to be on a fixed date (May 30), but there Uniform Monday Holiday Act in 1968 moved four holidays to specified Mondays to create three-day weekends.

While you’re out relaxing, or barbecuing, or beaching, remember – this is a day to honor the people who died while serving.
