Sustainability & Supply Chain: ALAN, a Model for Corporate Social Responsibility

by Sterling J. Scott, Marketing Communications Coordinator, MHI | @mhi_sterling

With the devastation caused by tornadoes in the central United States and the late summer tropical storms and hurricanes looming on the horizon, the material handling and supply chain industry is standing watch and is prepared to be responsive.

The American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN), was founded after Hurricane Katrina and includes hundreds of supply chain businesses in transportation, warehousing, cold storage, and distribution that can help locate and move goods from suppliers to affected communities.

ALAN is a partnership between businesses and nonprofits and works with many key industry groups including MHI to coordinate the supply of donations and other materials using industry best practices.
