Supply Chain Shortages to Impact the Holiday Season

At the start of 2020 COVID-19 disrupted global supply chains making it more expensive for companies to ship goods where needed. As we approach 2022, we are still seeing challenges in global supply chains including global port congestion, container shortages, coronavirus-related factory shutdowns, etc. and unresolved snags remain especially as new problems arise such as the Delta variant.

What does this mean for manufacturers and consumers this holiday season?

Manufacturers and retailers have sought to get an early start on ordering supplies ahead of the holiday season to prepare for the increase in product demand. With the struggle to get supplies shipped, consumers are likely to see less inventory choices and increased pricing on retail items. Shipping delays are also to be expected, so it’s a good idea to start holiday shopping early and have several back-up gift ideas.
