MHI to sponsor Women in Supply Chain Panel at MODEX 2016

The MHI Young Professionals Network (YPN) of MHI is holding a panel on April 5 on women in supply chain titled “It’s Not Just for the Guys Anymore.

This panel will delve into the challenges that come with being a female supply chain professional. Panelists will give their perspective on being a woman in the supply chain industry, how to support the new generation of women and how they excelled in a typically male-dominated field.

Nancy Nix, Executive Director, AWESOME (Achieving Women’s Excellence in Supply Chain Operations, Management and Education) will moderate the panel.

Panelists include:
–Simone Wakefield, Executive Vice President (COO) & CFO, NERAK
–Michelle Livingstone, Vice President – Transportation, Home Depot
–Diane Garforth, Director, Logistics Systems, David’s Bridal

“More and more women are entering the field of supply chain but still only represent approximately 10% of supply chain leadership,” says Devon Birch, MHI Director of Membership and staff lead for MHI YPN. “We as an industry need to do a better job connecting women in the supply chain with their peers and spreading the word that women are advancing into important and powerful positions of supply chain leadership.”

The panel will be held as part of the MHI YPN track at MODEX 2016 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The full-day track is titled “New Generation Supply Chain Workforce.” This panel and the full MHI YPN track sessions are free to MODEX 2016 attendees.
