Annual Industry Report

Embracing the Digital Mindset: Connecting Data, Talent and Technology in Digital Supply Chains

At MODEX 2020 the latest edition to the MHI Annual Industry Report was unveiled to an eager crowd. George Prest along with Deloitte representative, Thomas Boykin and a panel of contributors delivered the results and implications of the growing body of research.

In addition to tracking the adoption rate of 11 emerging technologies disrupting our industry, the 2020 report focuses on technology as one piece of the puzzle in the face of the crippling labor shortage.

“Respondents continue to believe that their organization’s greatest challenge is hiring and retaining qualified workers. Close behind is the category of customer expectations that are basically rising with expectations of faster cheaper service [this] also keeps these executives up at night” adds Thomas Boykin.

In several comprehensive chapters the report explores trends that have emerged to solve these problems and make recommendations for business looking to move forward. One trend for example is the re-skilling of workers.
