GoPro to Use Cloud-Based Supply Chain Visibility Platform

GoPro, the high-buzz maker of action cameras that allow users to shoot “immersive” video of themselves surfing giant waves or skiing off mountains, is heading to the cloud to handle its supply chain.

The company recently announced that it has chosen a cloud-based supply chain services firm, to provide global visibility of all inbound and outbound product movements across its distribution centers, carriers, suppliers and customers.

The CBS news program “60 Minutes” recently ran a feature on GoPro, which started as a waterproof camera desgiend to allow surfers to video their experience inside a big curl. Customers can mount the cameras on their heads, on underwater fishing gear or any number of other objects to capture footage typically considered the province of Hollywood professionals.

The cloud-based platform will allow GoPro to automatically monitor its supply chain and quickly respond to any problems, according to the press release.

“In the world of consumer electronics, products can quickly become obsolete, the competition never stops innovating, and your customers and suppliers can be located anywhere in the world. At GoPro, we understand that a highly responsive supply chain can help us meet these challenges and create a significant competitive advantage,” said Scot Briggs, GoPro’s director of distribution and logistics.
