Breaking Barriers with ProMat Keynote Michelle Dilley

Getting more women into leadership roles is what motivates ProMat keynote Michelle Dilley. As the CEO of AWESOME, an organization that brings together senior women leaders in the supply chain industry, Dilley is keenly aware of the obstacles females face when trying to reach upper levels of management.

With a long career in the supply chain industry, including serving as the chief operating officer of DSC Logistics (now CJ Logistics America), Dilley has experience being the only woman in the room. As she told Lincoln Road, she didn’t initially consider being outnumbered by men a problem. Raised with four brothers, this was familiar terrain for her.

However, As Dilley scaled the career ladder, she started to take notice of the lack of females at a similar level. As she wrote in a LinkedIn article, “I believe so strongly that diverse teams are better teams – only through diversity of backgrounds, experience, and perspectives – race, gender, age and everything else–do we achieve the best outcomes.”

Dilley attributes much of her career resilience to the lessons she learned growing up on a farm in Southwest Michigan. She was expected to pick the fruit that her family needed. When the farm eventually failed, Dilley watched and learned as her father remade himself as a salesman. In her ProMat 2023 panel “Women Leading in Supply Chains,” Dilley will be joined by the following fellow female leaders will discuss their journey in the supply chain industry:

–Annette Danek Akey, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Penguin Random House
–Ammie McAsey, SVP Customer Distribution Experience, McKesson
–Maria G. Llamas, Sr. Director – Fulfillment Productivity & Systems, Hasbro
–Rachel Cox, Director – Supply Chain Strategy, Grupo Bimbo

Dilley is one of four ProMat 2023 keynote speakers who you can hear at Chicago’s McCormick Place. Catch her panel of AWESOME women on March 20 at 8:45 AM at ProMat 2023.
