CMAA Vice Chair Karen Norheim Wins Champion for Industry Award

Karen Norheim, executive vice president of MHI member American Crane & Equipment Corp. and Vice Chair of MHI Industry Group CMAA, has been chosen as Thomas’s latest Champion for Industry.

The Thomas Champion for Industry program recognizes individuals in manufacturing who drive success not just for themselves, but for their colleagues, their companies, and the industry overall including:

• Driving Company Growth
• Innovating in the Areas of Product, Process and Technology
• Fostering a Superior Workplace Environment
• Providing Outstanding Support & Motivation to Employees
• Demonstrating Thought Leadership

Norheim accepted her father’s offer to work at American Crane & Equipment Corp. and joined a positive, employee-first culture – and then sought to modernize the way they attracted those world-class employees. Norheim leads facility tours for students of all ages and has been instrumental in creating local programs to raise awareness of manufacturing careers.

In addition to attracting a younger workforce, Norheim also works to balance the gender gap in our industry. She’s an active participant in Women in Manufacturing (WiM) and stresses the importance of looking for mentors in the industry – and urges all to hone their communication skills.
