Get Involved with MHI! – 6 Ways We Make it Easy To Do So.

By Alex Batty, MHI Marketing Communications Coordinator |@mhi_alex

Today is the start of our Spring Meetings (that’s kind of a lie, there have been meetings since Saturday, but today is the big start – full day and all).

And I got thinking (always dangerous, but something one does on occasion), how do we tie these meetings in to this platform? Because they’re (just) working meetings. But we host them to get our members involved. So if you’re not here, not involved, how can you get involved?

1. Join an Industry Group

We have a variety of product and solutions groups that cover all sorts of topics in the material handling industry. These guys get together to share information and conduct research to stay at the forefront of their industry. You can get in on the action.

2. Join the YPN

Worried material handling is just for old dudes? Worry not! ‘Tis not the case at all, and the YPN is going to be one of the best places to see that. It also allows you to create a great industry network to help you throughout your career. Don’t know how to get ahead in the career? YPN can help.

3. Interact with our social media

Yes, this is a shameless self-plug to follow us. But you know what? We work really hard to curate content that we think you’ll like and be helpful to you, so… check it out? Yeah? Plus, as world culture moves more and more digital, it’s a benefit you to you get connected to it.

4. Attend events and meetings

This week we obviously have our Spring Meetings going on, but there are also the shows, our Annual Conference, the Emerging Leaders Conference (which the YPN co-sponsors with MHEDA), and other cool stuff. You can check out our calendar of events at mhi.org/about/events.

5. Watch and share videos on MHI View

We publish videos that make the complex topic of material handling a little easier to understand. These bite-size videos are a great way to start conversations, share information with non-experts, and educate people with what you do.

6. Read the Roadmap, MHI Solutions magazine, and Annual Industry Report

Wondering where material handling is going and how to stay on top of it? We got you covered. The U.S. Roadmap for Material Handling & Logistics: Version 2.0 was released this year and the content is based on ~200 strategic thought leaders. MHI Solutions magazine is published quarterly and features topics relevant to material handling and the accelerating change the industry faces. The 2017 MHI Annual Industry Report, co-produced with Deloitte, provides updates on the nine innovative technologies we predict will have the most potential to transform supply chains into next-generation models. It also provide information on barriers to adoption, top supply chain challenges, strategies for leaders and real-world case studies.
