Intelligrated uses Roadmap’s insights as part of strategic plan formulation, workforce development initiatives

MHI member and automated material handling solutions provider Intelligrated is one of many companies to use the content of the U.S. Roadmap for Material Handling and Logistics as a source for its strategic planning.

Specifically with regard to the workforce challenges identified in the Roadmap, Intelligrated is working on a three-pronged approach to help customers address the shortage of skilled workers faced by the industry.

First, Intelligrated designs and engineers automated systems that can be used in place of manual processes that, “include undesirable, hard-to-fill jobs, high turnover costs, workplace injuries and product damage from mishandling.”

Further, the company recently unveiled a resident maintenance offering, added to the services provided by its existing aftermarket technical support team.

Finally, the company agrees completely about the need for the industry to appeal to a much broader range of talent, addressed in the Roadmap’s chapter on The Workforce of Tomorrow. That’s why the company has invested heavily in professional development initiatives.

Among them is a co-op and internship program designed to give students enrolled in regional universities and technical schools around the country exposure to the wide variety of supply chain careers.

The company has also developed an online training tool featuring a 3-dimensional warehouse for educators and universities to use in their classrooms.
