What to Expect From This Year’s MHI Career and Technical Education Summit

MHI-CTE-Logo
MHI CTE is having its 9th Annual Educators Summit on July 11-15 in Fogelsville, PA. This highly interactive event is sponsored by MHI and hosted by the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute specifically for instructors, program directors, and associations in the area of material handling, logistics, and supply chain. 35 educators will be introduced to the latest instructional materials, teaching techniques, and partnership opportunities to advance their material handling, logistics, and supply chain programs. The targeted educators and administrators are from high schools, technical schools, community colleges, and other organizations with similar training programs.

This five day event will offer:

Educational Lectures and Industry Updates

Participants will each give a 5-7 minute Lightning Round presentation on best practices. These lectures and interactive teaching sessions will give participants tools and invaluable knowledge to build upon their program.

During the Town Hall meeting participants will hear from industry representatives and the local Workforce Investment board on “What is the industry looking for in an employee?.” Educators will learn exactly what is needed to prepare students for highly skilled and high demand supply chain jobs.

Networking With Academic Peers and Industry Professionals

Networking lunches and break out sessions will allow participants to share their views, challenges, insights, and opportunities based on their experience, and discuss these with others in the field and industry. Speed networking will bring educators together with exhibitors for a fast paced, fun and informative networking experience.

Facility Tours of State-Of-The-Art Supply Chain Organizations

Each day the 2016 MHI CTE Educators Summit will feature an industry or education tour. Tours will give an inside look at the Martin Guitar Factory, Ocean Spray Manufacturers, Leigh Career and Technical Institute (LCTI), Walmart E-Commerce and the Lehigh Valley International Airport. This is a great opportunity to learn about the current state of the material handling, logistics, and supply chain industry along with the latest practices from relevant CTE programs.

Curriculum Tips, Tools, Resources, and Insights

This year the summit has added the Material Handling Certification/Certificate Panel Session moderated by Dr. Thomas Rushton, Executive Director, LCTI. This Certification allows educators to follow a set curriculum and create a program consistent to others. Educators will have the opportunity to learn about the program and ask questions directly to the panel. Participants will also have a chance to learn about the Academic Partners Maturity Model (APMM) – a free tool used to evaluate established education programs.
