Rest in Peace Jock Menzies

We are deeply saddened at the news of Jock Menzies’ passing.

Jock was the chairman of the Terminal Corporation, co-founder and president of American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN). His passion and dedication was a natural fit to lead ALAN. After witnessing the breakdown of relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Jock organized an effort and engaged supply-chain professionals and trade associations (including MHI) to come together to help victims of disaster. And that’s just what ALAN has done thanks to Jock’s efforts from Haiti to Hurricane Sandy to this year’s mid-west tornadoes.

Jock was a generous and gentle spirit and a visionary and inspirational leader in this industry. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jock’s wife Penelope and his entire family.

The ALAN homepage carries this sentiment:

“May we honor his memory – and celebrate his life – by listening more carefully, responding more positively, and living more gently with one another. Perhaps together we can retrieve some small portion of the grace we have lost with his premature passing.”

I think that says it all.
