The 30,000 New Jobs That No One Knows About
by Sterling J. Scott, Marketing Communications Coordinator, MHI | @mhi_sterling
There are currently 200,000 Supply Chain Technicians working in the United States and this number is increasing 15% annually.
Though the demand for these skilled professionals is growing, there is a shortage of them in the industry. With average salaries in the mid-$30,000s, these are high-quality jobs that are flying under the radar, but are very important across all industries.
While many companies only require a high school diploma, most prefer advanced degrees and certifications. However, there are not many programs designed to help students develop the necessary skills or provide certifications.
MHI is developing a program for Supply Chain Technician Certification to help professionals in the United States tap into the flow of jobs resulting from economic growth and omni-channel’s emergence. To learn more about these trends, check out the 2014 MHI Annual Industry Report which details the emergence of omni-channel and the shortage of skilled professionals to fill the jobs being created.
