Calling all Foodies!

Today is the first day of March and we are only 20 days away from ProMat 2011!

Here at MHIA we have been very busy getting ready for the show but we’ve also had a little time to start a list of restaurants we would like to visit while we are in Chicago.

Carnivale – Offers bold and authentic Nuevo Latino cuisine from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Columbia, Peru, and Argentina. A staff favorite (particularly the mojitos)!

Girl and the Goat – Restaurant by Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard (I’m a huge Top Chef fan so I really want to see if they are as good as they seem on TV!). Concept is fun, fresh and funky – in a good way.

Japonais – Contemporary Japanese Cuisine and Sushi in an exciting, yet intimate setting. Senior Sales Representative, Andy Revels raves about “The Rock” appetizer.

Frontera Grill and/or Tompolobampo – Rick Bayless run restaurants. Bayless is a renowned chef who specializes in contemporary Mexican cuisine (and winner of Top Chef Masters!). The Carne Asada A La Oxaquena from Frontera was featured on Food Network’s “Best Thing I Ever Ate”.

May Street Cafe – Gourmet seasonal restaurant featuring Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban and traditional American foods with an eclectic twist. Also featured on “Best Thing I Ever Ate” for its White Chocolate Flan.

Socca Chicago – Again, featured on “Best Thing I Ever Ate” for their Shrimp and Heirloom Tomato Pizzette (can you tell we watch Food Network??). S3occa Chicago offers a blend of French and Italian cuisine.

Devon Seafood Grill – Known for their award-winning Maryland-style crab cakes this restaurant keeps everything so fresh that the menu changes from day to day (also, since my name is Devon – I know it has to be good!).

Unfortunately, we may not be able to visit every restaurant on our list but we’re sure going to try! We are also very excited to visit Alhambra Palace Restaurant on Tuesday night for salsa dancing. If you want to see our resident salsa dancer also known as Senior Administrative Assistant, Carmen Murphy, be sure to stop by!

Any restaurant you love in Chicago? A can’t miss? Let us know and we’ll post it to our list!
